Mortgage borrowers looking for their next mortgage are having a much more difficult time researching the market place than they were 2 years ago as mortgage lenders are increasingly making their product only available directly and not via a broker. Previously the vast majority of mortgage products were available via qualified mortgage brokers who would be able to research the whole marketplace on a borrowers behalf and give advice on the best product. Recently however there seems a trend from mortgage lenders to only allow borrowers to apply direct. A recent survey found this was tru in over half the products in a best buy table compiled of mortgage products. Direct deals are often more prevalent in a market where a tighter control is required on lending due to the dificult trading conditions for many of the landers. Thisnow means that borrowers should look at lenders directly as well as looking at the products advised by their mortgage broker.
