Clydesdale Bank

This bank was founded in Glasgow in 1838, it is now part of the National Australia Bank Group thus becoming part of an international organisation with over 7.5million customers. Based in Glasgow it is the third largest clearing bank in Scotland and continues to print Scottish bank notes that can be used throughout the UK.

In 2008 the bank announced pre-tax profits of £164million.

The bank offers a full range of financial services including current accounts, credit cards, home, life and travel insurance as well as savings, loan and mortgage products. Mortgages can be applied for by customers who are first time buyers, moving home or changing their lender. Mortgages can be arranged as offset, current account or fixed rate products.

Buy to let investors and customers who are buying a second home can apply for an investment housing loan, these products are designed specifically for private investors and are not suitable for business purposes. The projected rental income can be taken into account when applying for a buy to let mortgage.

First time buyers can apply for fixed rate mortgages and the amount of deposit you can provide will affect the interest rate that you pay.

Clydesdale Bank Mortgage Products

First Time Buyer mortgages: The Clydesdale Bank offers fixed rate mortgages that will cover up to 95% of the property cost. Some products will not incur any arrangement fees.

Owner Occupier mortgages: If you are switching your mortgage from another lender you may be entitled to a discount of arrangement fees. If you have more than 35% deposit available then you will benefit from a lower interest rate.

Investment Housing Loan mortgages: These products are available for buy to let properties and second homes. You can borrow up to 80 % of the property's value over a 2 or 5 year fixed rate period.
