Dunfermline Building Society

The Society was formed in 1869 and is the largest Scottish Building Society, it still concentrates upon savings and mortgages but since March 2009 it has been part of the Nationwide Group, it remains committed to the values of being a mutual society run for the benefit of members.

The Society offers fixed, tracker and shared ownership mortgages. A fixed rate mortgage can cover up to 95% of the property value although new customers may be restricted to a borrowing limit of 85%, you can take out a fixed rate product for 2 or 3 years and at the end of this time you will change to the Society's Standard Variable Rate.

Most mortgages are only available for properties in Scotland

Dunfermline Building Society Mortgage Products

Fixed Rate mortgages: With this product you have the security of knowing exactly how much your monthly payments will be for the agreed length of time. The amount of deposit you are able to provide will affect the interest rate that you pay, you can apply for this mortgage whether you are a first time buyer, re-mortgaging or moving home.

Tracker mortgages: The interest rate on this product will track the Bank of England Base rate at a set percentage for the term of the agreed period. Your monthly payments may rise or fall.

Shared Ownership mortgages: If you qualify to buy a housing association property in Scotland, or already own a share in your property you can apply for this mortgage product. You will benefit from a discount from the Society's Standard Variable Rate for the first two years.
