Saffron Building Society
Originally set up in Saffron Walden the Society is now over 160 years old and has branches in Essex, Hertfordshire and Suffolk with over 90,000 borrowers and savers. The Saffron Building Society is a mutual society so it has no shareholders and all profits are used for the benefit of its members. It currently has assets of £784 million.

If you choose a fixed rate product for between 2 and 5 years you will pay the same monthly repayments for the length of the term allowing you to plan your finances. Customers who believe that the Bank of England Base Rate will rise may decide to choose this option. At the end of the fixed rate term you will switch to the Standard Variable Rate.
A discount mortgage gives a reduction on the Standard Variable Rate for an agreed term and monthly re-payments may therefore fluctuate.
Tracker mortgages will follow the Bank of England Base Rate at a set percentage figure and are consequently variable. Buy-to-let mortgages can be arranged with either a 2yr tracker or 3yr fixed rate.
If you repay your mortgage loan in whole or in part during the offer term you will be liable for an Early Repayment Charge, the amount will depend upon the product.
Saffron Building Society Mortgage Products
Fixed rate: 2, 3 & 5yr fixed rates are available, you can borrow up to 80% and your interest rate will be affected by all of these factors. At the end of the fixed term you will transfer to the Standard Variable Rate.
Buy to Let mortgage: Depending upon what product you choose there will be either a fixed or variable monthly repayment. You can borrow up to 75% of the property value and there is a minimum loan amount of £50,000. Up to £500 of the Valuation Fee will be refunded when the mortgage is agreed.
