Stroud and Swindon Building Society

The society was originally established in 1850 as the Stroud Provident Benefit Building Society, it is still based in Stroud - having relocated to a new purpose built building in 1990. Following a merger in 1990 it became known as the Stroud and Swindon Building Society.

The Society currently has assets of over £2.7 billion and employs over 350 people across its Head Office, 22 branches and 22 agencies in Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset and Monmouthshire.

You can apply for a mortgage from the Stroud and Swindon Building Society if you are a first time buyer, moving home and switching lender or are an existing customer. The Society offers both fixed and variable rate mortgages to suit your circumstances and the maximum loan could be up to 90% of the property value. With some products you are able to repay up to 25% of the total loan amount within the offer period without incurring any Early Repayment Charges.

First Time Buyer mortgages: You can choose from a fixed or variable rate mortgage and there may be special deals available including free valuations and booking fees. Your mortgage advisor will be able to tell you more about this.

Owner Occupier mortgages: Loans can be taken when moving to a new home, transferring from another Stroud and Swindon mortgage product or from a different provider. You can also top up an existing mortgage to fund home improvements. If you choose the Standard Variable Rate Mortgage there will be no early Repayment Charges.
